A dark, horizontally striped ensemble

The terraces on the first floor level are accessible via wide stand stairs, which also serve as seating during events. The silver cantilevered part is the multifunctional auditorium with all the office and research spaces of Maastricht University and the DSM Innovation Centre above it, housed in a dark, horizontally striped ensemble. Below the Center Court is a car park for 100 cars and a gymnasium.

Safety, health and environment

The façades are characterised by sleek, complex detailing. 5 new profile moulds were designed, all doors are fitted with structurally glued-on glazing, the window sashes are powered by motors and a newly designed print motif was applied to windows of almost 6 metres high. The building also gets a ‘Very Good’ stamp on the BREEAM-NL scale. Through intense collaboration and direct construction of the façades on a steel structure, the outer layer of this building was constructed in just 25 weeks. Chemelot Campus has strict regulations when it comes to safety, health and environment, which fits in seamlessly with our own values and expertise.
