The power of teamwork

A tender was issued for the construction of this ‘vertical school’. The Dutch contractor Heijmans IBC Bouw approached us with the idea of going after this project together. Because Vorsselmans believes in the power of teamwork, we agreed. Our combined proposal turned out to be a good one, because we were allowed to take on the challenge.

Periscope in checker board pattern

The sixty-metre-high building was designed like a periscope with two large ‘windows’. One of them faces the river while the other looks out over the harbour and the sea – high up in the sky. The cantilevered structure at the top conceals the conference room. The façade has a checkerboard pattern of blue and grey-ish aluminium panels and glass.  The aluminium panels are perforated and conceal windows that open and close.
