Modern home
Because of the many windows, this villa is basking in sunlight. Vorsselmans installed, among other things, a sliding window of 33 m long and a sliding window with a corner that opens. This way, the home and garden are directly connected.
The client was a family with two teenage children. They were living in a similar detached home, but the house was fragmented. With time, and after a series of renovations, all the necessary features were there, but the proportions and the placement of various rooms weren’t quite right anymore. Architecten Van Rooy & Verbeeck were called upon to create a new home. The most important demands? A holiday feeling, lots of natural light and a connection with the garden.
The villa’s features
Holiday vibe
The new façade faces the south, so it literally invites the sun in. That permanent connection with the outdoors creates a southern atmosphere. Because of the glass façade, which can be opened everywhere, the living areas flow seamlessly to the patio that surrounds the pool.
On the first floor, there’s a balcony along the entire south façade. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedrooms emphasise the connection to the garden.
Aluminium
The exterior material strongly determines the way the house look. By choosing aluminium panels, a consistent design was created, with steel construction, brickwork, balconies, exterior joinery and other detailing finished in the same material. Sills, eaves, gate and other details are uniform. This enhances the sculptural qualities of the entire home.
Sustainability
Both for the construction materials and the energy, we focused on sustainable solutions. The aluminium façade cladding is very easy to take care of and can be cleaned easily, as opposed to plaster or paint on a white home in a wooded area.
